Halloween Castle Trail in Scotland

Go Beyond gets Spooky!

25th October – 1st November 2021

What's to get excited about!

Our Halloween Castle Trail in Scotland has castles. Lots of castles! In fact with a spectacularly spooky stay in three historic and atmospheric hotels, expect some ghostly Halloween connections, ancient ruins, delightful scenery, a chance to get some fresh Scottish air, lots of colour and character, great food (of course) and traditional Highland hospitality all the way. And for movie fans in our group, you will be excited to know that some of the castles appear in famous films like Month Python and the Da Vinci Code.

It’s going to be an epic trip!

Halloween Castle Trail in Scotland - Edinburgh Castle

Where you'll be staying...

Three lovely hotels with castle connections and charisma, making for memorable stays each night of your holiday.

Food, glorious food!

Scottish food is legendary, so you will be sure to explore and enjoy the tastes of the Highlands and the best local dishes along the way.

And no trip to Scotland would be complete without at least sampling the national dish… haggis!

What you'll experience...

We will meet at Edinburgh Airport where we will use our minibuses to transport our guests from castle to castle. We will also use Edinburgh airport as a meeting point at the end of the holiday.

And working with our travel partners at Clans and Castles, we have created a memorable mix of activities that give a great feel for the variety that Scotland has to offer.

Take a look at our daily itinerary and you will see what we mean. It’s going to be an amazing trip!

25th October 2021

Arrive in Edinburgh, Scotland’s magnificent capital. Settle in to your city centre hotel and perhaps enjoy a stroll exploring the nearby streets and alleys of the Old Town.

Overnight Apex Grassmarket, Edinburgh

26th October 2021

A visit to Edinburgh Castle set on its mighty crags above the city. See the mythical Stone of Destiny and the glittering crown jewels. The massive cannon Mons Meg and Margaret’s chapel are all set among the winding tunnels and lanes of the castle. Edinburgh is full of ghostly memories, so a ghost or witch tour of the secrets of the Royal Mile is essential one evening.

In the morning, check out the shops on colourful Victoria Street, pop into Greyfriars Kirkyard near George Heriots school – all reminiscent of Harry Potter. Then, your driver collects you from your hotel for the trip north – over the Firth of Forth and into the Highlands.

Overnight Atholl Palace Pitlochry

28th October 2021

A visit to Blair Castle, home of the Duke of Atholl, and Europe’s last private army. The rooms are full of art, weapons and treasures and the gardens are a delight to explore. Lunch (and even shopping) at the irresistible House of Bruar, before a stroll to the lovely Hermitage back near Pitlochry [wheelchair friendly].

A visit to ghostly Menzies Castle – home of three witches and famous for its paranormal experiences, all in a lovely setting in Highland Perthshire. Then on to Loch Tay for lunch and the restored Crannog – an ancient house settlement on the waters of the loch and restored so you can see what life was like in the iron age

Through the hills to Wester Foulis. Its lovely little church hosts one of Scotland’s most impressive Pictish symbol stones. Can you decode the mysterious images? Then via picturesque Doune Castle (famous as a film location) to our destination: Stirling, and our hotel a stone’s throw from the Castle ramparts.

We tour nearby Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s most impressive fortresses, overlooking the plain of the Forth, with Highlands t the North and Lowlands to the South.
